Hopa Keelan, Deputy Head Prefect

Deputy Head Prefect for 2023, Hopa Keelan, has been at Lindisfarne College since Year 9 when he was awarded a Te Whaiti-nui-a-toi scholarship. Hopa comes from Ruatoria, a small rural town north of Gisborne and he is of Ngati Porou and Te Whanau-a-Kai descent. Settling in as a full boarder, Hopa was urged to get engaged in the limitless opportunities that are provided at the College. Over his time at Lindisfarne, Hopa has earned an academic tie and has enjoyed being involved in the sporting cornerstone as a member of the 1st XV Rugby  and Senior A Touch teams. Hopa has also contributed to the cultural cornerstone of the College as a senior member of the Kapa Haka group.

Hopa believes that there is nothing more expensive than a missed opportunity and thinks that one of his major tasks is  to motivate boys to get involved in the huge range of activities on offer around them. He has a clear goal for the year and that is to assist William and the prefect team in their service to the College.
