Our Heritage life at lindisfarne

Boys of all faiths are welcome in the Lindisfarne family

But enrolment does require a positive commitment to live by our special character, which is entrenched in the Christian faith and our Presbyterian heritage.

Christian dimension

There are many layers to the Christian dimension of our school, but it is the Christian values that underpin everything, including how we define the crucial characteristics of who we are, what we do, and how others see us. Central to the College is our "Special Character", which is focused on three areas: religious studies, worship and pastoral care.

Lindisfarne is affiliated to the Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa-New Zealand and we have developed an excellent pastoral programme, providing the best possible care to all boys during their time at Lindisfarne College.

Through our well-established Christian education programme, as well as College Chapel services and assemblies, we're able to provide key opportunities for all our students to explore their faith and purpose, and consider how they relate to their daily lives, and those of others.


Chapel

The Lindisfarne College Chapel is the cornerstone of our College; a place where the Lindisfarne College community comes together to explore the Christian values upon which the College is founded, and celebrate special occasions.

​​​​​​​Our Chaplain delivers a sermon to the students once a week, and the boys conduct a second service organised into their respective House tutor groups. For two or three Sundays a term, our families are invited to join their sons in worship for a family Chapel service.

Religious education programme

The aim of our Religious Studies programme is to give students the opportunity to explore faith issues and how these can positively influence the direction of their lives. We aim to expose students to some of the fundamentals of the Christian faith, and the challenging questions of life and purpose, so that, at a time appropriate to them, they are able to make informed life choices.

Service programme

Daily college life offers many occasions to lead and serve others. Coaching a junior team, academic tutoring, guiding prospective families around the College, and leading a tutor class chapel service are all varied and rewarding ways to enhance a boy's personal and spiritual growth.

Our stimulating and rewarding range of formal service activities also includes our Women's Refuge Care Packs and gardening, the Year 13 Service Leadership Day, Duke of Edinburgh's Hillary Awards, community volunteering and fundraising activities. In the past we have also run a very popular trip to Nepal.​​​​​​​
