This year’s Deputy Head Prefect, Sam Bartram, has a very clear goal for the year and that is to support Tuawhio and the prefect body in their service to the College. Sam himself learnt a great deal about service to others when a knee injury stopped him from playing cricket last year. Instead of using the down time to relax, Sam took the opportunity to get involved with service activities. This included coaching cricket and doing the videoing for the 1st XV rugby team. “Being injured taught me a lot about patience and service to others,” said Sam.
Sam’s first love is cricket and one of the highlights of his cricketing career to date has been his 89 not out against Rathkeale last year which was crucial in securing Lindisfarne’s win in this annual exchange. Sam also has a stellar academic record, having earned an academic tie (Gold Award) which means that he was one of the top five students in his year group and had a grade point average of over 90%. This year he added academic colours to his record. In addition to his prefect duties, Sam is this year’s Student Representative on the College Council, yet another example of his ethos of service.
