Tuawhio Porima: Head Prefect

Head Prefect for 2022, Tuawhio Porima has been at Lindisfarne College since Year 9 when he was awarded a Te Whaiti-nui-a-toi Scholarship. Tuawhio comes from Levin and is affiliated to Ngāti Manawa, Ngāti Porou, Tainui, and Ngāti Maniapoto. As a new boy, Tuawhio knew no one at the College and hadn’t realised that his uncle had been a prefect here in the 80’s. He soon settled in as a full boarder and has been a shining example of one of his own guiding principles: seize every opportunity and make the most of it.  One of his goals for the year is to make boys truly engage with the limitless possibilities that the College offers them and encourage them to try new experiences.

Tuawhio believes that the College’s culture of excellence has had a profound effect on him and supported him to attain high levels of success. He has played rugby for the 1st XV since Year 11 and was one of the few players last year to never miss a game or be substituted. He is also a consistent member of the Senior A touch rugby team. Tuawhio has also earned an academic tie, Excellence endorsement for NCEA Level One and a Merit endorsement for Level Two. It seems certain that Tuawhio’s high standards will also be reflected in his role as Head Prefect.
