Photographer of the Year: Richard Wood (92-96)

It was another successful year at the Iris Photography Awards for our Old Boy Richard Wood (92-96) who was named New Zealand Professional Photographer of the year by the NZ Institute of Professional Photography, this being his fourth time winning the title (2011,2014,2017). Richard also won the highest scoring print in Open Portrait Category, won the Open portrait and Expressive category, and also won three Gold Distinctions, two Golds, five Silver Distinctions and one Silver. One of his Gold distinctions was named ‘between worlds’ which was a celebration of the Mexican Day of the Dead which branched into mixed media, this can be viewed on his professional photography page. Other works haven’t been released yet as they are entered into other competitions, but he will be holding an exhibition of his work shortly (dates and location still to be announced). Richard has been well established in the professional world of photography internationally and within New Zealand for a long time, being an educator, working in studio, judging and public speaking (the list goes on). This was fantastic achievement from our Old Boy in his creative field.
