William Duncan, Head Boy 2023


Head Prefect for 2023, William Duncan has been a day boy at Lindisfarne College since Year 7.

William has taken every opportunity since he started at the College to embrace life at Lindisfarne and he is active in all four cornerstones. One area of focus for William is the service cornerstone and he is regular helper with the Women’s Refuge. William is also a member of the Hastings Youth Council and  a Red Cross Youth Ambassador.

 

Alongside his commitment to service, William enjoys playing the trumpet and is a key member of the College Symphonic, Chapel and Jazz bands. He also excels at public speaking, winning the College’s Churchill Oratory Competition in 2021 and the Impromptu Speech Competition in 2022. William is a keen member of the College’s Senior A debating team.

William’s academic achievements are impressive and he was awarded his academic tie with distinction in 2021 and his academic colours with distinction in 2022. He has achieved NCEA Levels One, Two and Three, all with Excellence.

William enjoys and embraces the sporting cornerstone of the College and he is a proficient tennis, cricket and football player.  He is also a highly capable chess player and has won the Hawke’s Bay Secondary School Competition for the last seven years.

William’s attitude, dedication and high standards at the College will be reflected in his role as Head Prefect and he is looking to grow his communication and leadership skills in this position.
