Despite the fact that Hugh lives just down the road from the College, he has been a weekly boarder since Year 9 and he wouldn’t have it any other way! Hugh considers the boarding hostel to be his second home and the boarding community to be his second family. In the light of his own experience, Hugh is determined to ensure that every boy who comes into the boarding hostel, whether it is for a week or seven years, has a good experience. When asked to explain his enthusiasm for boarding, Hugh said “I really appreciate the sense of belonging and kinship with each other that the boarding experience creates”. Boarding has also given Hugh the opportunity to connect with a diverse range of people and nationalities and he really values this.
